Our curriculum is designed to increase cultural capital for our pupils. Our Enrichment Lead ensures that our curriculum essentials provide opportunities for further enriching and personalising our curriculum. The inspirational extra-curricular opportunities which are offered to our children enable them to experience life in all its fullness.

Importance is placed on:

• Acknowledging global, national and local events
• External visits
• Visitors
• Extra-curricular clubs

to increase the experiences and opportunities available to our pupils, particularly the most disadvantaged. These exciting extra-curricular opportunities along with astutely identifying vulnerable and SEND children supports and enables all pupils to flourish and make progress in their learning and spiritual development.

Pupils accessing our enriching curriculum will have high expectations and aspirations, opportunities to increase their global awareness, creativity, possibilities, British values, creativity, community involvement, social & emotional awareness and spirituality, and will be able to respond creatively to all challenges. These Curriculum Essentials were developed by our school community who collaborated to develop a bespoke set of curriculum drivers. Alongside our school vision and values, we ensure that pupils’ learning and spiritual needs are met

The impact of our Enrichment programme is vast. Not only do children recognise and demonstrate a wide range of life skills and build their mental resilience, but they develop vital social and emotional awareness in preparation for life-long learning, beyond Beresford. Pupils are more engaged at school, resulting in an increase in concentration and attendance.

National Storytelling Week

What a fantastic time our Early Years pupils had, this week! As part of National Storytelling Week, students from Leek High School came to read lots of fantastic stories to our pupils. It was lovely to see some older students read so beautifully to our youngest children. Everybody had a great time. Thank you to the Leek High students for coming to visit us.

Careers Week

Year 4 Ukulele Concert- Victoria Hall

On Thursday 22nd June, Year 4 took their ukuleles to the Victoria Hall in Stoke to perform some of the pieces of music which they have been learning throughout the year. They joined lots of other schools in a concert which showcased their musical talents and singing abilities. The children behaved impeccably and they thoroughly enjoyed their time performing.

Brilliant Brushers

The Keep Stoke Smiling roadshow visited pupils this week. Dr Karen Juggins, Consultant Orthodontist at the Royal Stoke spoke to pupils in Reception about the importance of good dental hygiene. Pupils were taught how to make healthy choices in order to reduce their sugar intake. Karen also explained how important it is to brush your teeth twice a day. Her assistant, Zara, demonstrated a good tooth brushing technique. We pledged that Beresford would be a ‘Fizz Free School’ and nominated pupils in each class to be ‘Smile Stylers’ who will remind their friends how to keep their teeth healthy.
